Safetyhood and Safety Face Masks products and services

Development

9/11 The safetyhood and safety face masks are produced to comply with the technical specification developed by the Israeli Home Front Command to protect people against the constant threat of Bio terrorism. Designed to replace the full face respirator, its purpose is to provide pocket-size protection for escape to safety.

The hood provides basic emergency escape protection against

  • CBR chemical biological radiological
  • Bio terrorism events
  • Smoke and its components see quote from HSE Downloads

London Bombings 2005The full technical specification can be found in  technical data but the following is a basic guide of the Safetyhood attributes

  • Hood
    • 5 layer laminate tested to withstand mustard gas for 6 hours

  • 3 stage Filter
    • Electrostatic filtration, capable of trapping the smallest particulates (99.99999% to.027micron
    • Activated charcoal layer, capable of adsorbing smoke, CBR agents
    • Viscose reinforced with polyester fibres to act as a soft surface against face and lips during use. This is impregnated with .03% of CPC, a recognised antiseptic, to prevent bacteria growth from exhaled air, a commonl problem with long term mask use, resulting in sore throat.

  • Fit & Seal The hood is designed as a one size fits all and is sealed around the neck. This neck seal removes all the usual leakage factors encountered with masks and full face respirators caused by facial muscle, head and jaw movement. The hood seals quite simply with two latex bands stretched over the head to seal around the neck. This complies to the International standard of EN 405.

  • Legal Issues The safetyhood has been assessed by the HSE & HSL and they accept and confirm that this device will provide emergency escape protection (see HSE Downloads ). The DTI (OFT) have also accepted that this is a class 1 medical device and therefore falls outside the stringent 1992 PPE regulations, which means it removes the associated problems of general issue, maintenance, inspection, record keeping, etc.
  • The new 2009 EEC Guidance CEN Workshop Agreement 43 CBRN PPE identifies the safetyhood design standard PM750 as compliant. (Link to standard)
